About Basicus

What exactly is this site, and why is it called Basicus.com? Well, the explenation for the domain name is simple; A few years ago when I really started using the net for other stuff than e-mail, surfing the web and such, I felt it was necessary to get myself an alias that I could use in forums and such.

I asked my nephew, and we were discussing alternatives back and forth. At that time I had just seen the first part of the Matrix, and I was of course hooked on Morpheus and his coolness. My nephew was the one that put together the first letters in my name (Bjørn Are Solstad), and added icus to it.

I checked if the domain name was available, but had to go for the .net version, since some US-based company had taken the .com version. The funny thing is that after a couple months they sent me a mail and offered to sell me the .com version of the domain. I believ they wanted 1.000 USD for it, so I kindly rejected their generous offer Six months later the domain was available, and I grabbed it for USD 8.10 instead

Now, what is this site, and what is the purpose of it?
To answer this question, I need to tell you what I do for a living. You see, I don’t have a “day job”, but are making a living out of running different sites, and have specialized in getting a site to the first page of the major search engines when someone searches for different phrases.

This site is a part of a network of sites run by the internet marketing company Devenia Limited where I work as CTO, and we are working on generating traffic through different means. Also the site has purpose of providing points to a link exhange network we use to get inbound links to our other sites. Sounds complicated? Well, it kind of is quite complicated as well.
