Using w.bloggar for blogging is a relief

A long time a ago I tested w.bloggar for posting to my blog. For some reason I ended up with the web-based built-in interface of WordPress instead.
I have finally taken the time to configure w.bloggar, so I don’t have to log into the admin-interface of WordPress. It’s a relief to not having to worry about timeouts and other inconveniences and just write.

I have not checked if there is a proper spelling checker in this program, but otherwise it looks really neat.

Her is a screen shot of this post :)

Update:
There are two things I can’t quite figure out: How does the image upload function work?
How come a post that I have just posted dissapears when I try to update it and press “Post” instead of “Post & Publish”?

Do you know?

Postcards to strangers

When was the last time you sent a postcard? I don’t mean the eCard-variant. No, no. The REAL thing. You know, the old-fashion cardboard thingie your grandparents used to send to people.

Well. I just came by a guy sending postcards to complete strangers. Randomly!

Not only is he sending them postcards, but he does it without even telling them that it actually is a prank. Funny!

Have a look at the postcards he has sent so far. Some of them are hilarious! Have a look at the card he sent to Chuck Norris. It really made me laugh!

Front page links devalued

I was discussing with Odd the other day if there is a change in the way Google values links occuring on the main index-page of a site.

We have both seen the same tendencies on several sites.

Of course there is no way to prove if this could be a correct assumption or not, but I find the theory to at least be logical.

If I was working at the Googleplex, I would definitely devalue front page links, and sitewide links as well (as they have done also).

If we are right in our assumption, it will have a big effect on the value of selling links for many site owners out there. After all, the front page and site wide links has been the one’s that has been sold for the highest prices.

I believe Google is doing the right thing here.

What is your opinion?

Global warming awareness campaign

As you can see on the big stop-sign on the sideline her, I am involved in a campaign to spread awareness around the subject global warming. You should head over to our site regarding this, and sign the petition we are running there.

Some claim that the whole consept of humanly caused global warming is just a big fraud, and that other planets in the solar system is experiencing the same higher temperatures as we do on Earth. They might be right of course.

But, what if they are wrong? What if the global warming is caused by human activity? Can we afford taking the chance?

This is what the campaign is about. Can we really afford taking the chance that our conduct has nothing to do with the global warming currently going on? I don’t think so. My children - and their children don’t think so.

Do you?

Carcasherdotcom Seocontest

I am again using this blog to participate in the Carcasherdotcom Seocontest. Just for testing a few tricks I have in the sleeve ;)

If you want to help me out in the contest, please bless me with a link or to using the following code: Carcasherdotcom Seocontest

The contest end by the end of the year, so I should have a fair chance at it, and given I am now putting all the link-power I have available into this blog, my Carcasherdotcom Seocontest page should start ranking prettyr soon.

Long live the Carcasherdotcom Seocontest!

Edit: Heh. I have seen through the serps of Google, and are doing quite well with my other contestant site at euroheadline.com, so I guess this on is off..

Steal This Film!

I just saw a fantastic documentary that has just been released that shows very well how the piracy-movement is breaking down the copyright laws in Sweden. As you might now, the biggest BitTorrent-tracker in the world is the Pirate Bay. In june 2006 it was taken down by swedish police.

The Pirate Bay was up and running again after a few days, and the whole incident was incredibly imbaressing to the swedish government.

Download Steal This Film, and see for yourself how the file-sharing community is changing how the film- and music industry has to make their billions.

Phishing (stealing access codes) to Wachovia Bank

To all Wachovia customers:
You have probably reached this page because you have clicked on a mail where you could log into your account at wachovia.com

Wachovia has been notified by my that basicus.com was hacked, and that I discovered a phishing-script running on my server. They did not take my mail seriously, and were kind enough to reply about what to do if I recieved a fraudient mail. I seriously recommend that you have a closer look at this bank’s security measures, because I gave them a good oportunity to investigate the phishing-script that was running on this site.

Go to wachovia’s website directly by typing in their web-address in the address-bar of your browser. DON’T click on links in mails that looks like they are legitime - type the address manually!

To Wachovia’s representatives:
I sent you a mail to warn you about this phishing-script, and even offered to send you the script-files so you you could examine them. All I got was two standardized replies about how to handle fraudient mails.

Well - you should have read what I wrote.

This script is probably spreading to many Joomla-based websites - and there are hundred-thousands of them.

To Joomla-owners:
Please check in your components folder if you see a folder with the following structure. If you do, they have gotten to you as well, and you need to delete the folder and the scripts in it to avoid getting abused by some phishing guys trying to use YOUR server for their criminal activities.

The folder structure looks like this:

Root - > components -> com_wachovia - > auth - > AuthService

A complete (almost) rebuild of the site

Basicus.com had become a chaos of everything and nothing. On top of everything -  Joomla, witch was running the site got hacked several times the last couple months. So, I had to do something about it.19.08.2006 basicus-com-hacked19082006.gif

You are therefore looking at a new site, based on WordPress again.

I have also made a change to the bittorrent links that used to be here. The rebuilded BitTorrent directory is kind of empty still, but I will rebuild it with all the recources it used to have. Actually I am maintaining it mostly for my own convenience, but I have seen that many of you use it.

Otherwise this site of mine is gonna get a more personal touch than before. I will eventually also use it as a storage for pictures for family and friends.

Be The Dealer is NOT a fraud!

Below is the original post. I have good news: I got the check yesterday of USD 1.500. Thanks a lot Leon! You are the best :)
Here’s the deal:

I won the BTDino contest february 26th. Be The Dealer has still not managed to send the check ($1.500) - or at least I have not seen any check comming from them. Also, I have corresponded with them via mail several times, and actually got a reply from Leon stating that he would ask their financial department if it has been sent.

Now it has gone a week without a word..

Are they so god damn busy over there, that they can’t even be deacent enough to tell me if they have sent the damn check?

What can be done? Any suggestions?
